500 and 1

What a great weekend of Yankee baseball. We have played our cross town rivals the Mets who are far from amazing as they squared off against the Bronx Bombers. The Yanks swept the Mets three games in a row with last nights contest being the most exciting. I was able to watch the whole game (on tv) and took great delight in seeing even more miscues from the Mets and more timely hits from The Yanks. Mariano Rivera, the legendary Yankee closer got his 500th save and his first RBI.

This is especially gratifying because I work with a lot of Mets fans. They started off cocky at the beginning of the year but quieted down after dropping 2 out of 3 when they visited Yankee Stadium a few weeks ago. Now that they have been swept, they are silent. Well, actually, they are now "focusing on their other team" which just happens to be the Boston Red Sox. They have replaced their Mets gear for Sox paraphernalia.

It's not the first time I've had to deal with bandwagon Red Sox fans - that for sure. I'm just grateful that I stick by my team no matter what and I actually feel sorry for the Red Sox. After all, how sad to be a team who's fan base is populated by hanger ons and 'lost in the wilderness' Yankee haters.
