One advantage of this free hour (so rare for me recently) is that I get to blog. Here are some stories that I find interesting.
First a chart of President Obama's popularity.
It is so nice to have a President that almost everyone can get behind. Just look at the numbers for Republicans! It has jumped from 27% approval to 42% in just the past week! Now that's what I call unifying. But those 58% of the now fringe party GOP are really getting nuttier and nuttier.
Maybe it's because they are once again being incited to violence. Like we saw during the Clinton years, the Right Wing is fanning hatred and a call to arms. Can anyone doubt anymore that these people are Anti - America? The good thing is that the number of these folks are small. The bad news is that it only takes one Tim McVeigh to inflict great damage.
Seems like these whack jobs would already have their hands full. A recent study showed that Red State have a much higher level of watching Internet porn than the rest of us. Utah, the most conservative of states, lead the pack.
I didn't write at all about Bobby Jindal's response to the Obama speech the other night. The reason is that I missed it! I'm not sure what happened. I must have left the room for a few minutes. Anyway, I've seen it now. Pretty much everyone criticized it (although after getting the Prime Directive from Rush Limbaugh, some ditto heads have fallen into line). I thought Jindal's little talk was simplistic, condescending, mythical and out of touch with reality. But that's what Republican politicians have been doing for a generation!!! There was nothing he did, in my view, that was any worse or more nonsensical that what has been going on for years. I am (pleasantly) shocked that now - in 2009 - almost everyone saw right through it! Hooray!
Another reason to like Obama. One of the questions I used to ask prospective girl friends was their soda of choice. Coke or Pepsi. I was raised in a Coca-Cola household. Now there was no wriggle room in that. Our family has a wide diversity of opinions, professions and outlooks on life. But no one - NO ONE - would dare drink a Pepsi - especially in the presence of my Dad. If a prospective GF liked Pepsi, well - I knew it would be trouble. Time magazine has uncovered that our President, Mr. Obama, and the people he surrounds himself with prefer Coke.
Well everyone is trickling into work so I better look busy. Have a great weekend.
