Sunday Roundup

It's the end of the month and aside from a 24 hour break for Thanksgiving its nothing but all work all the time. People are so overworked now that the "average" level of the staff being disgruntled has surpassed normal month end highs. That's saying a lot believe me! (By the way, to those who are tempted to say "you're lucky to have a job" just shut the hell up. One day I will write out the pages of thoughts and feelings that result from hearing that statement. Let's just say that if you are reading this you're lucky someone doesn't come and jab you're eyes out. You could be blind you know, you could have hot irons sticking out of your eye sockets. Feeling lucky yet? Good! Smile for me while you read on.)

In the news - Tiger Woods has managed to "postpone" his interview with the police again. Ahhh to be a celebrity in the USA. Fortunately, I don't have any experience wrapping a car around a tree at 2:30 in the morning but I have a feeling I would not be receiving this VIP treatment. The whole story doesn't add up to me. The hour of the accident, the story of his wife smashing the back window and the fact that it was a "minor" accident yet he faded in and out of consciousness and had slurred speech. Sounds like he was drunk to me. If they did no alcohol test then it will be just another rich celebrity given special treatment by law enforcement.

So I guess you can't blame people from wanting to be famous. The party crasher story continues to grow. I think these people should be thrown in jail for a couple years! This is no joke - it's a serious security issue. If they should succeed in their goal and parlay this into a TV show then the decline of America, which appeared to at least stalled with the election of Barack Obama, seems to have resumed. Whatever attracts eyeballs - whatever makes a buck is rewarded in America. Another example of Capitalism running amok with the invisible hand rewarding those who contribute nothing but sensationalism to the masses and dollars in the pockets of the few.

The President has a big speech on Afghanistan on Tuesday. I have a "wait and see" attitude. I want to hear what the President says before I decide if I support it. I had more or less the same attitude about Iraq. When President Bush said we needed to go in, I was sceptical but wanted to hear the case. It was only after watching Colin Powell's embarrassing speech to the UN did I realize it was all a big ruse. I trust this administration much more than the last.

And we are reminded how bad the previous administration was, a new report confirms the old reports that they missed the opportunity to get Bin Laden in 2001. Mistakes happen, so to put all of the blame on this one oversight would be unfair. But of course we all know this was 1 of a whole series of mistakes which has brought us to our current situation. The clean up of the Bush years continue.

After rereading all this I sound like I am in a bad mood. Take it for what it's worth but I am actually in a very good mood! Go figure!?! I hope everyone has a wonderful day and a great week ahead.
