Saturday Venting

The Anti-American talk show host Rush Limbaugh is not getting ignored by the Pro-American Obama Administration. The radio blowhard, who I think is responsible for much of the dumbing down of the politics and the ratcheting up of the hate and division in this country, has said that he hopes our new President fails. No surprise there. Limbaugh's only goal is to agitate his listeners and persuade them to keep on listening to him. He is one of the few public voices out there who still thrive on misinformation and smears. Well, President Obama, the anti-Rush, has decided to take him on and I think it's great! The best defense against his sort of destructive propaganda is to embarrass him with the truth.

The weather in New York City this winter has been very cold and very wet. A lot of snow but almost always followed by rain. Yuck, what a mess. Check this out to see how New Yorkers try to cope with this weather induced annoyance.

Joe Torre better not stroll the streets of New York anytime soon. The bitter ex-manager of the Yankees has a new book out and the big cry baby is whining yet again. I tell you, I love the Yankees and appreciate everything Torre did for the team but quit your bitching already! Yes, your employers treated you with some disrespect, yes your hard work was under appreciated, but join the club man, this is America! At least you had your day in the spotlight, made tens of millions of dollars and got to wear the finest uniform in sports. Now you want to "settle the score"? Hey, as a baseball guy you should know : What happens in the clubhouse, stays in the clubhouse.

Torre is showing why I agreed with the decision to let him go. He is a brooding, mopey guy who takes himself way too seriously. We know that he and Derek Jeter are best buddies and that he didn't like A-Rod. But rather than sit is a smug stupor for three years about it, he should have sucked it up as manager and did what was best for the team. Instead, he let his pride get in the way and allowed the team to become as lethargic as he was. Now he pens a book complaining about his tenure with the Yankees. Gimme a break Joe - shut up already!

Speaking of sports, the Super Bowl is tomorrow and I will make my prediction. Pittsburgh 30 - Arizona 17. I am a big believer that momentum and "heart" goes a long way in sports. But this year it will only go this far for the Cardinals. I think that the Steelers will rise to the occasion, use their experience and superior talent to easily dismiss Arizona. As always, the ads will be as interesting, or more so, than the game itself. We'll see.
